These tests provide valuable information about a person's overall health and can help detect, diagnose, and monitor various conditions and diseases. 1. Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): - Glucose: Measures blood sugar levels and helps diagnose diabetes or monitor glucose control. - Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride): Assess the balance of minerals in the body and evaluate kidney and heart function. - Kidney function tests (blood urea nitrogen and creatinine): Measure waste product levels to assess kidney function. - Liver function tests (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin): Evaluate liver function and detect liver diseases. - Total protein and albumin: Indicate nutritional status and liver function. - Calcium: Evaluates bone health and nervous system function. - Lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides): Assesses cardiovascular health and risk for heart disease. 2. Complete Blood Count (CBC): - Red blood cells (RBC): Measures the number of RBCs to evaluate oxygen-carrying capacity and detect anemia. - Hemoglobin (Hb): Determines the amount of oxygen-carrying protein in the blood. - White blood cells (WBC): Measures the number of WBCs to assess immune system function and detect infections or inflammation. - Platelets: Evaluates blood clotting ability and monitors for bleeding disorders. - Hematocrit (Hct): Measures the percentage of blood made up of RBCs. - Mean corpuscular volume (MCV): Determines the size of RBCs and helps diagnose anemia types. - Differential white blood cell count: Determines the percentage of different types of white blood cells to identify specific infections or disorders.
